Future for Jaffna

Future for Jaffna is a charitable organisation created by the SIFE Nottingham team. It aims to set up an entrepreneurial and community centre in Jaffna, Sri Lanka to work with widows and victims of the civil war in northern Sri Lanka. It will empower those persons to set up their own successful businesses and provide for their families.

Future for Jaffna will also work with the Palmyra Development Board, an agency of the Sri Lankan government, to improve their marketing strategy and production processes. Our work will increase the income of their 250 workers- war-affected women who earn only 30% of the national average wage.

Kusaidia Mombasa

Kusaidia Mombasa is a SIFE Nottingham project running in Mombasa, Kenya. We are working with an existing NGO and charity in Kenya to improve employment opportunities for ex-street children. We have worked directly with small businesses which are run by the charity in an urban slum to increase their profits. We have also run a number of business and health sessions with ex-street children and the wider slum community.

Additionally, we have set up an enterprise for the charity using a new environmental technology. We aim to train up members of the community to teach others the skill to set up their own environmental business.
