University of Nottingham awarded ‘Entrepreneurial University of the Year’ 2008!
The University of Nottingham has won the prestigious honour at a glittering Higher Education ceremony in London. A large factor in the university winning has been due to the dedicated and globally recognised impact SIFE Nottingham has had over the last year, and the team’s President Charlotte Matthew and Co-Vice President Reena Chandar were invited to pick up the honour on the university’s behalf.
The university’s Vice-Chancellor Professor David Greenaway has enthused over the work our team has carried out and had this to say:
“What pleases me most about this award is the way it reflects how our students embrace the qualities of the entrepreneur.”
Business School Director Professor Leigh Drake, UNIEI Director Professor Martin Binks as well as Ian Robertson, Chief Executive of the National Council for Graduate Entrepreneurship all praised the work of SIFE Nottingham and their contribution to the university winning the coveted accolade.

Special thank you to sponsors Accenture
SIFE Nottingham has been privileged to be supported by Accenture through annual sponsorship, but in particular for the support given to us in the run up to the SIFE World Cup in Singapore in August and September. Business Advisory Board members Paul Gurney and Christopher Kimmett from Accenture have given the team invaluable advice and help on presenting skills, script writing and much more, and we are grateful for them dedicating their time to help us. Accenture also allocated us an office for the day in Raffles, Singapore, just days before the World Cup, allowing us key preparation time. Many thanks.

SIFE Nottingham reach Semi-Finals at SIFE World Cup in Singapore
The team agonisingly missed out on the chance to be the very first UK team to ever reach the Final Round at a SIFE World Cup after being eliminated at the Semi-Final (last 16) round.
The competition, in which 47 countries across the globe competed in, was a fantastic spectacle in the Suntec Convention Centre in the heart of Singapore.
SIFE Nottingham were drawn against eventual winners Canada in the first round, alongside Malaysia, xxxx, in which us and Canada were able to progress.
The semi-final stage again saw the team up against Canada, as well as xxx, but agonisingly it was Canada who progressed and went on to win the world cup. So close for the team.

The award relates to the team’s project ‘Enterprise Nottingham’ which saw SIFE Nottingham teach 415 secondary school pupils about entrepreneurship & business in a number of interactive workshops and exercises. Fantastic result for the team.
