SIFE (Students In Free Enterprise)

SIFE is an international organisation that mobilises university students around the world to make a difference in their communities while developing the skills to becomethe socially responsible business leaders of tomorrow. More than 30,000 students participate in SIFE worldwide. They represent 1,800 universities in more than 47 countries. Support is provided by hundreds of leading companies from around the world. SIFE students form teams on their university campuses and develop community outreach projects that equip others with the knowledge and skills to achieve greater economic success.

SIFE students are positively affecting the lives of millions of people. As these students succeed at helping others, they develop stronger business and leadership skills as well as a commitment to the community and world around them. SIFE students empower people to have their own sustainable business rather then giving them handouts or charity.
SIFE represents the largest worldwide network of student, academic and business leaders. They share a passion for helping others achieve success and through SIFE, are experiencing the unique rewards of using their business skills to help create a better world.

Where SIFE differs from other charitable organisations is the national competition. Each year, every SIFE team in the UK competes against each other in the National Competition. This involves a 24-minute presentation and Q&A session, giving each team a platform to explain the fantastic work that they have done throughout the year. The judges consist of business leaders from SIFE UK sponsors such as HSBC, Centrica, Asda and many other multinational corporations. The winners of the National Competition go on to compete in the SIFE World cup against the other winners of their respective countries competitions, which is being held, this year, in Washington DC.
